"Hi, I'm Eric Lee, one of the Team Leaders for the Mira Mesa Homework Helpers project, volunteer at the Polinsky Center, and various other projects around San Diego County. One of my philanthropy goals for 2007 is to raise $ 100K + for Volunteer San Diego's ( VSD ) general operating fund. This fund supports the daily operations of VSD, and allows the 75 + monthly volunteer projects to continue to benefit our local community.
My two principle fundraising ideas are: ( 1 ) Recruiting runners to participate in and do some light fundraising for 3 - 4 upcoming races, and ( 2 ) Researching and getting new grants funded for VSD. The race events selected for this year are: ( 1 ) La Jolla Half Marathon, April 22nd, ( 2 ) Rock 'N Roll Marathon, June 3rd, ( 3 ) AFC Half Marathon, August 19th. My goal is to recruit 350 + runners, and to have $ 15K + in new grants funded this year.
When I was doing my goal setting for 2007, I wanted to do something extra for VSD, beyond Flex Volunteering, Team Leading, and organizing Special Projects. My outlook on San Diego's current financial situation has volunteers and nonprofit agencies being called upon to do even more than in years past, so groups like VSD may need more funds to handle the extra flow. This is my way of helping out that is beneficial, fun, and a positive step towards being more fit. Please join me in helping to find volunteers interested in running, jogging, or walking these upcoming events."
